Posted June 23, 2019 09:31:57 The owner of a gun shop in Queensland says he has apologized after shooting a man in the leg after he attempted to buy a gun.
The gun shop owner, Daniel Tregar, says he shot and wounded 28-year-old Steven Wiegers at the business at about 1:00am (AEST) on Sunday.
He says he is “sorry for the loss of my life and for the pain that has caused”.
Tregar says he had been working at the shop for more than five years.
“I’ve had two people in my shop and I know a lot of people here who are a lot older and a lot more experienced than me, so I’ve had a lot experience,” he said.
Trebar was trying to buy an AR-15 rifle when he opened fire.
Wiegers was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
ABC News asked Queensland Police if it was safe to comment on the incident.
They said it was a “potential incident involving a firearm” but declined to comment further.
