A pizza shop has shut down in Connecticut after an unexpected downturn.
The restaurant, called Pizza Martini, opened in Hartford, Connecticut, on August 6, 2019.
It is still open in Hartford and in Connecticut, but it closed on October 11, 2019, according to a news release.
Owner and co-owner Andrew Schmitt said he’s working on getting it back on the road.
“We are not the type of company that wants to go into a new business because we have to reinvent ourselves, so we have been trying to figure out a new way of doing things,” he said in a statement.
“We will be doing a business model change, but the key is we will be going back to what we do best.”
In November, the New York Post reported that Pizza Martinis had shut down.
The restaurant’s website now says that the restaurant is closed and is no longer accepting orders.
Schmitt said the restaurant was “not an anomaly,” and said that the closing was due to financial issues.
“It was a business decision, but also due to some unforeseen events,” he told the Post.
“The reality is, we have no financial cushion left in the bank.”
Pizza Martini opened in 2018, and has been in business since its inception.
According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, it has served pizza to nearly 10,000 people in Hartford since it opened.
The closure comes on the heels of a similar restaurant, Pizza Bar, which closed in February 2019 after two years in business.
The former location was also closed in October 2019, though Schmitt confirmed that Pizza Bar was still open as of Tuesday morning.
In September, the Daily Beast reported that another pizza shop, Pizza Bistro, was closing after a year and a half.
According the outlet, the former location had about 20 employees.
